Listening to inspiring christian songs is what helps me go through the dark moments in my life. When my own words fail to express what I am feeling, the songs become my prayers and lamentations to God and my anthems as I go through my days.
I play them in the morning on my quiet time. I play them when I feel down as my challenges seem so hard to tackle.
As I go about my days, the words would pop up in my mind when I need to give myself some encouragement and affirmation that all will be well.
Here are my top 10 inspiring Christian songs (and parts of their lyrics as a teaser for you to check out the songs):
1. For when you feel worn even before the day starts:
“Worn” by Ten Avenue North
“I’m Tired I’m worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing”
I love this song. This song perfectly sums up what I felt in my darkest moments when I woke up in the morning with tears and worn out after a long, restless night.
2. For when you are dealing with depression and thoughts of suicide:
“Something More” by Nick Vujicic
“Where do we go when hope runs out? When we’re empty?
When there’s nothing left?
…
I don’t wanna die,
I don’t wanna waste another day,
Or night,
I know there’s something more,
Than what we’re living for,
I see it in the stars,
I feel it on the shores,
I know there’s something,
I know there’s something more
…
If you don’t get a miracle…become one.”
Nick Vujicic is such an inspiring person. He was born without hands and legs. He was bullied since he was little and he had to deal with depression and thoughts of suicide at the tender age of 10. Yet, he managed to conquer it all. It puts my own life and challenges in a different perspective.
3. For when you need to lament to God:
“Cry Out To Jesus” by Third Day
“There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He’ll meet you wherever you are”
When negative toxic feelings of fear, anger, weariness, hopelessness and disappointment reign in your heart, cry out to Him.
4. For when you are feeling alone in the deep valley:
“Oh My Soul” by Casting Crowns
“Oh, my soul
You are not alone
There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know
One more day, He will make a way
Let Him show you how, you can lay this down
‘Cause you’re not alone”
Even when you cannot feel Him, He is right there besides you. Keep talking and walking with Him.
5. For when you have little faith left in you:
“Even If” by Mercy Me
“They say it only takes a little faith
To move a mountain
Well, good thing
A little faith is all I have right now
But God, when You choose
To leave mountains unmovable
Give me the strength to be able to sing
It is well with my soul”
When you have little faith left and can’t see a way out, keep believing that He is a good Father. If He chooses not to remove the thorns at this particular moment, trust that He has a bigger purpose for it. He will use it to make something beautiful out of you.
6. For when you need to trust in God:
“Trust In You” by Lauren Daigle
“When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!
Truth is, You know what tomorrow brings
There’s not a day ahead You have not seen
So, in all things be my life and breath
I want what You want Lord and nothing less”
7. For when you need to surrender your life:
“Have It All” by Brian Johnson
“You can have it all, Lord
Every part of my world
Take this life and breathe on
This heart that is now Yours”
When all the doubts, anger and disappointment have passed, surrender your life to Him. Give all of your heart and trust your life in His hands. In His time, He will make things new.
8. For when you need hope:
“Shoulders” by for King & Country
“My help comes from You
You’re right here, pulling me through
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness all on Your shoulders
Your shoulders
My help comes from You
You are my rest, my rescue
I don’t have to see to believe that You’re lifting me up on Your shoulders”
Don’t look for help or solutions to your problems in the wrong places. Don’t run to drugs, sex, or alcohol in an effort to numb your pain. Retail therapy is not going to help either. It’ll just make a dent on your wallet. Your help will come from Him.
9. For when you need to release fear that has gripped you for a while:
“No Longer Slaves” by Jonathan and Melissa Helser
“I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
From my mother’s womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
You split the sea
So I could walk right through it
My fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me
And I will stand and sing
I am a child of God”
When you have been in the dark for a while, pick yourself up. Stop wallowing in self-pity. Release all the fears that you have felt. Wear your armor of God and pick up your shield and join the battle of life again.
10. For when you need affirmation that you will experience the good times again:
“Hills and Valleys” by Tauren Wells
“Father, you give and take away
Every joy and every pain
Through it all you will remain
Over it all!
On the mountains, I will bow my life
To the one who set me there
In the valley, I will lift my eyes to the one who sees me there
When I’m standing on the mountain aft, didn’t get there on my own
When I’m walking through the valley end, no I am not alone!
You’re God of the hills and valleys”
You’ve been in the deep valley. You’ve lost and you’ve been hurt. Now, it’s time to climb out of the valley and head for the mountaintop. It’ll be a struggle, but the view at the top will make it all worthwhile.

Thank you for putting this together, these all speaks to me especially 5th.
I will definitely check these songs.
Thank you for reading, Crisly. I LOVE LOVE LOVE “Even If.” It sums up what I have been going through perfectly.
Casting Crowns and Third Day are 2 of my favorite groups. I love this play list. Have you heard of KSBJ?? Very awesome radio station.
I love them too. I haven’t heard about KSBJ, but I used to listen to 104.7 The Fish when I was in the U.S. Now, I listen to “Up!” through iHeartRadio app. Thank God I can still listen to the Christian songs here.
Music is extremely powerful and can heal in so many ways! Thank you for sharing such a great list. I definitely need to check these out.
That’s a nice compilation. And it makes, even more, sense, as Christmas is around the corner. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve heard “Cry Out To Jesus” by Third Day before! How/where do you find these songs?
I love songs by Third Day. “I need a miracle” and “Born Again” are my other favorite ones of Third Day. I have one of their CDs. But, mostly I find these songs by listening to Christian Music Radio station (like 104.7 the fish, K-LOVE or UP! – check out iHeartRadio app on your phone) or Youtube. I don’t include the Youtube videos here because I am not sure of the policy of embedding their videos on my blog. I don’t want to get into legal problem 🙂
You have a great list of inspirational songs here. Though I haven’t heard all of them, but I am really looking forward to listen. Thanks for sharing this list.
I’m not a Christian, but that doesn’t limit me to listen to Christian songs. I would check them one by one. Their lyrics are awesome! My favorites are the 3rd and 8th.
You made me very happy with this post! I really love Christian Songs!
These are all great songs! I sing at our church and I also listen to TheJoyFM in our area. Love listening to this station in the morning on my way to work.
